The idea was incorporated that would enable the family to maintain patterns of life developed while living abroad. A typical example is the kitchen, which can be opened into the dining room for family cooking and eating. The verandah extends from the living room, low and shaded, it projects jetty-like, into the garden and is open on three sides.
